CONTEXT
From the moment of it's 1st publishing till 1988, Orwell's novel was banned in the USSR.
In 2022, "1984" had become the most popular novel in Russia, yet that same year the book was banned in Belarus.
To mark the 40th anniversary of Orwell's narrative and living under authoritarian rule, we are bringing an adaptation of "1984" to the UK.
PERFORMANCE
The performance focuses on Winston’s harrowing journey as he faces psychological manipulation and tortures. O'Brien's reconstruction of Winston's case serves as a grim education for other thoughtcriminals, ensuring their complete submission to the Party.
"1984" is a compelling adaptation of George Orwell's classic, performed by Slavic actors. Inspired by Nick Hern's adaptation, it delves into themes
of surveillance and control, offering an immersive experience that challenges perceptions of truth.
